"From Pain…Purpose was Birthed"Yolanda Douthit is a passionate, open book who isn’t afraid to be vulnerable so that she can be a vessel for change and healing.
She is a devoted wife to Monte Douthit. Born and raised in Charlotte, NC to the late Reverend Marvin N. Kelty and Pastor Rosa L. Marion, she was nurtured and grounded in faith with strong Christian values. Her father and mother were very influential in the community serving in Pastoral, Philanthropic and Humanitarian roles. Consequently, she is familiar with the structure of church, as she has worked in every facet and capacity of ministry. She has been an influential and dominate administrative force in several churches and ministries throughout her life. Yolanda attended Winston-Salem State University immediately upon graduating from West Charlotte Senior High School. She eventually transferred to High Point University Evening degree program so that she could work full time and complete school. She pursued a degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Management but after many obstacles and unfortunate circumstances she did not complete the one year she had remaining on that degree. The college years were formidable years in Yolanda's life. She met her husband Monte and developed life long friendships. However, in those years her relationship and fellowship with God was almost non-existent, as she had become somewhat jaded about "church" life being a "PK" (preachers kid). The behind the scenes of ministry life was a major deterrent to her accepting her calling and purpose. Therefore, she made a choice to use her gifts in the marketplace; obtaining positions within major companies in Administrative, Financial and Technical roles. Her goals in life was to "marry, buy a home with a white picket fence, have her own business in the marketplace, have 2.5 kids, the .5 being the dog, working in ministry on a volunteer basis”. She had no aspirations to be in full time ministry. But God had other plans. After relocating to Georgia her life changed drastically. She experienced major life changes, and she lost two influential people in her life, four months apart. She was depressed and lost. She was empty, seeking a place that could pour into her pain. She was a member of a local church but it was not feeding her spiritual woman. That's when she retreated into her Sanctuary. It was a place that she created from what had been imparted into her as a child. It was there that her soul could fellowship with God, find peace in Him and He could heal her weary soul. The Sanctuary was conceived. Once she shared the concept of her personal Sanctuary with others, and they read some of her personal online journals of her journey; they encouraged her to step out of her boat of comfort and share what had been conceived in her. The Sanctuary was birthed. She has dedicated her life to the building of The Sanctuary. Although she is well versed in the things of ministry and God, she believes that if one has been called to spread the “Good News” that one should do as the Word says; "study to show thyself approved". Now that she is in the will of God, she was ordained into ministry by her mother, Pastor Rosa Marion and Pastor Eddie Sheffield in November 2014. She also returned to school, and has obtained a Bachelors of Science degree in Religion from Liberty University. Her goal is to continue to grow in wisdom just as Christ did and she is continuing her studies at Liberty. She is now pursuing a Masters of Art in Global Studies. As an exceptional communicator, Yolanda's greatest desire is to educate, create, provide programs, and to make readily accessible resources, and practical services to assist those seeking a deeper and more purposeful relationship with Christ. The Sanctuary is founded on the premise of the early church, which is love, understanding God’s Word, applying it to the believers life, putting family first and possessing a passion for humanity. But it is also designed to meet the need of a "virtual" and media driven generation. Yolanda is committed to kingdom building, one citizen at a time. |
